Our ministry partner for October in the ASLC Second Mile Giving Program is Heifer International. It is a faith and secular-based organization. Heifer strives to work with communities to end world hunger and poverty and to care for the Earth.
Heifer carries out its work by providing appropriate livestock, training, and related services to small-scale farmers and communities.
Today, heifer's volunteers and employees work in 21 countries around the world alongside local farmers and business owners. the programs of Heifer have expanded from providing livestock to multi-purpose programs: training in animal husbandry, natural resource management, leadership skills and gender equity. Now in its 78th year of service, Heifer has helped over 34 million families worldwide lift themselves out of hunger and Poverty.
