April 2025 2nd Mile Giving Partner

In April, our Social Ministry Team is promoting our Second Mile Giving ministry partner, Lutheran World Relief.  We happily announce that the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) work together today to help people in need, end hunger, and  work for justice for everyone.

This started back in 1945. It was the end of World War II, and one of the difficult outcomes of that war was that 20% of all Lutheran’s in the world were homeless.  In the United States, a number of Lutheran churches got together, mobilized to start sending aid, and a new agency, Lutheran World Relief (LWR), was born.

The work of LWR continues and has grown.  Today Lutheran World Relief operates in East and West Africa, Latin America, Asia, the Middle East, and the USA,  helping some of the world’s poorest communities build the resilience they need to survive. 

All Saints Lutheran has long been a supporter of LWR and contributor to the organization, through making and sending personal care kits, baby care kits, school kits and quilts, as well as sending funds.  Please join us in celebrating and supporting Lutheran World Relief.
